After the birth of my first child, I dreamed of being a midwife. After the birth of my second child, I started taking steps to make it a reality. I am drawn to the beauty and spontaneity of birth, and I work hard to ensure people feel their voices are heard throughout pregnancy and beyond. Providing responsive, person-centred care is what motivates me in my career.

I graduated from the UBC Midwifery program and have worked as a full scope registered midwife at the South Community Birth Program and the Midwifery Group in East Vancouver. I began attending births and supporting families with newborn care, breast/chest & bottle feeding and adjusting to early parenting in 2004. I continued this work while finishing a Bachelor of Arts in Women’s Studies in 2010, and then going on to complete a Bachelor of Midwifery in 2015, both at UBC. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to pair my love of travel with my passion for birth, volunteering at hospitals, clinics & birth centres in the Philippines, Uganda and South Africa. For the last few years, I’ve been practicing Midwifery and providing MSP covered Lactation Consultation services in Vancouver, the Tri-Cities and Richmond.

I have always been passionate about supporting choice. I approach my work with a keen interest in learning what is meaningful and important to each client in order to provide the best care possible.

Support available with: breast/chestfeeding challenges including nipple pain, tongue tie assessments, babies slow-to-gain, low milk supply, oversupply, management of blocked ducts/mastitis, pumping, appropriate use of nipple shields (including weaning off) and SNS/syringe/bottle feeding.

My journey into lactation consulting was sparked by my own struggles with breastfeeding. After a decade of experience as a registered midwife and nursing my first child for over three years, I assumed (incorrectly) that I was immune to having feeding challenges. My expansion into lactation consulting reflects my determination to turn our dyad’s personal struggles into meaningful support for other mothers in my community. I work with families with empathy and a dedication to continuous learning. My background equips me with a wealth of knowledge, and I look forward to offering your family valuable assistance in navigating the intricacies of breastfeeding.
